Matt Corby
Acabo de ir a un concierto de Matt Corby. Jamás había oído una voz como esa en vivo. Jamás. Gracias.

En mis primaveras amargas,
mis veranos ácidos,
mis otoños apagados,
y mis inviernos deshojados,
estás.
Y eres.
Pronto haré un ‘about me’. Para mis fans inexistentes.
What they did not want you to ever find out is that your generation, the generation born between 1980-1995, actually outnumbers the Baby Boomers. They knew that if you ever turned your eye towards political reform, you could change the world. They tried to keep you sated on vapid television shows and vapid music. They cut off your education and fed you brain candy. They took away your music and gave you Top Ten pop stations. They cut off your art and replaced it with endless reality shows for you to plug into, hoping you would sit quietly by as they ran the world. We as a society are only as strong as our weakest link. Give ‘em hell, kids.
GIVE. THEM. HELL.
I’ve seen this going around a lot. Here’s the thing: yes, our generation has incredible potential. But reblogging this picture is not enough. You need to take a stand and get involved. Find your cause. Write your rep. Tell your friends. Vote in every election.
We may seem politically apathetic, but as this picture shows, we aren’t. We Occupied, we Walked for Choice, and we sought justice for Trayvon. We created Change.org and Facebook and Twitter, which have changed the face of corporate responsibility and backlash. You have the power to do so much just from your computer. Don’t just reblog this image. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, KIDS.
Yours in revolution,
Jess
With all due respect, using the internet and urging other ‘kids’ to do it isn’t enough. Voting isn’t even enough. It’s just the easy way. It’s kissing the hands that feed us lie, after lie, after lie. Don’t get me wrong; Change.org, Twitter, massive internet protests and campaigns, just to name a few, have had their effect on global issues and the concerns of millions of young adults who don’t agree with ‘the system’ and how our lives are determined by the (sometimes stupid) decisions of the ones before us. Anonymous and WikiLeaks have also helped every single one of us in our struggle. But I repeat: It just isn’t enough. We have to get out there: On the streets, squares and everywhere where we can be seen. We all fight to preserve democracy and the right of every individual to cast their vote and have their say, but what we are fighting to preserve is the reason we are still ignored and overlooked. Democracy is a principle based on the wishes of the majority; but what if you KNOW the majority is wrong? What if you KNOW that thanks to a majority that has outdated and unrealistic views on society you can’t live the way you (and those around you) think is best?
The truth is that we are more informed and educated than past generations. We are more involved in matters that affect us. We are TOLERANT. Thanks to the technological advances of our times and the ease-of-access to information, we have knowledge and understanding. And, if we all know and care about the issues affecting us and our neighbors, why not put an end to our suffering?
We don’t have to use violence to get our point across because what we have is invaluable and inalienable: KNOWLEDGE.
Let’s give ‘em hell the way we’re supposed to: Through protest and demonstration.
This isn’t a call to arms; this is a call to courage.

Whatever you want to know, just ask. But if you must know, I love coffee, books, cherries & stepping on dry leaves. And redheads. With freckles. Many, many freckles.
